CSR and Namtai Electronic & Electrical Products Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as NTEP) jointly announced that the reference design of CSR’s RadioPro was used by NTEP for its Internet radio module. RadioPro is a single-chip Wi-Fi (named UniFi-1) design based on CSR, which enables NTEEP to put its Internet radio module on the market in just 11 weeks.

By adopting CSR’s low-cost RadioPro design, NTEEP has introduced a multifunctional module, which can be easily applied to various products to provide Wi-Fi functions, including portable media player (PMP), DAB radio, digital photo frame and VoWi-Fi phone. The module of NTEEP contains all hardware and software components, with a built-in microstrip antenna and an integrated PA and LNA, which enables designers to add external antennas when necessary. CSR’s RadioPro provides the wireless streaming media function of Internet radio through Wi-Fi, and through special design, OEMs can quickly cut into the high-growth market.

CSR’s UniFi is the lowest power Wi-Fi solution in the market, and its chip package size (CSP) is very small, only 5.8×6.4, so the external dimension of NTEEP Internet radio module is only 40X40X2.85. The module can also be directly installed on SMT equipment to realize mass production and efficient production.

RadioPro can realize 25 hours of active streaming media time with 1500mAH battery. It integrates high-performance 2.4GHz radio, baseband processor and media access controller (MAC), and also contains all necessary hardware drivers and software development components (SDK) to ensure the introduction of low-cost Internet radios to the market.
